Meet The Blue Room & What You Missed...

Meet the Blue Room:

When you visit the Blue Room, you are guaranteed to end up with Chloe in your lap.
She might be a senior cat, but with age has come a real appreciation of sharing love and attention with her people! Tummy rubs are one of her favorite things, other than snuggles.

Look at my forehead! I have an "M" on it for Maisie, which is my name. I am a bit of a
shy girl and like to monitor the room from a high shelf or do ground patrol from under a chair. I also like to snuggle with my Blue Room Posse members.

Besides being a beautiful girl, Puddin' is also playful and sweet. Puddin'
likes an adventure and is the star of When Puddin' Attacks on YouTube. She gets to
hang outwith her sister, Cupcake, and her other friends in the Blue Room. Puddin' is
always ready to make a new human friend and waits at the door for visitors. Please
visit her soon, she'll be waiting for you!

What You Missed at...
Hall-O-Wine

Good news on the palm reading -so Howl-O-Wine didn't turn into a frightful night.
Glad I didn't stand too close to him. Really, there was plenty to eat besides other guests.

The card tricks were truly amazing!

Its always awesome to get together with Second Chance friends and talk animals
and other things too!
Check out this year's Howl-O-Wine event. Not only did the cats and dogs benefit from this
event, but it sure looked like the guests did too!

People really got into the party spirit by wearing costumes.

Attendees had tons of choices of wines and beers to sample. These spooky beers
helped the guests get into the spirit of the evening.

Tasting, mingling, having your cards and palm read, eating, being awed by
magic tricks and checking out the cats and dogs filled the evening.
Erika has her cards read by a genuine psychic.

This pumpkin is a work of art!

Special thanks to our hosts Jerry and Lisa for an awesomely haunting Howl-o-wine event!

Meet the Blue Room

Meet our beautiful girl, Aki. Her name means "fall" in Japanese - so this would be the perfect time of year for Aki to find her forever home. Aki is a sweetheart and loves lots of attention. Aki is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside, as you can see.

This Cupcake is 100 times sweeter than any edible cupcake. She is a laid back girl who enjoys surveying the blue room and observing what everyone is doing. Cupcake will be happy for you to come over to her and give her lots of loving!

The weather is starting to get colder and you may need a wonderful lap cat to help keep you warm. Tilly would be purrfect draped across your lap! She also would be a great friend for your other cats, if you can bear to let her leave your lap.

In the next update you'll meet more members of the blue room posse. And next Wednesday you can see the "Cute Picture Post - Blueroom Addition".

Important Upcoming Dates:
Howl-O-Wine - Friday October 30th from 6 - 9 pm.
Join us at the Adoption Center to sample wine and beer and enjoy hor d'Oeuvres, a costume contest and door prizes. Cost $25. Check out more info on our website: www.SecondChanceNC.org

Second Chance Happenings- August 19, 2009

Let's take a tour around Second Chance.

Starting in the back, here's Fenu. He's a handsome Maine Coone that just became adoptable! Do you know of a loving home for him?

Also in the back is the warehouse, where Second Chance stores all the items needed to give the animals a loving home.

There's a new cat in a lobby cage, too. It's Peony, who's taken over Alcatraz's old cage after she got adopted last weekend!

Lisa is back after taking a rare week off...
...but remains in the vacation state-of-mind.
(Just kidding)

Here's the clinic, where Second Chance makes sure the animals are current on their vaccines, given any medical testing needed, and kept healthy and happy.

Cheryl brings in a new kitten for nail trimming and a quick check-up.
The clinic is also where the foster kittens are held on the weekend Adopt-a-thons.

The dogs, however, meet adopters in this brightly painted room.

Life in the Lavender and Little Rooms remains constant.

The Green Room, however, got a new addition. His name is Excalibur.

The other kitties investigate their new roommate.

Next to the Green room is the Meet-and-Greet Room. Potential adopters can spend one-on-one time with a cat in here. It is also where I give the ASPCA®'s Meet Your Match® assessments, designed to identify the cats' personalities and better match them with adopters.

Meanwhile, Rosemary has moved out of the Peach Room and into her forever home!
Little Lulu wonders where her friend has gone.

Don't worry, Lu! Your turn will come soon!

Finally, the Blue Room lost a resident this weekend.
Beautiful mama cat Tia passed away :(

She is survived by her Second Chance sons, Remy and Bacardi.

Remy

Bacardi

Don't forget Second Chance's yard sale coming up September 19th! And shortly thereafter, on October 3rd, Second Chance will host Halloween Bungo, the fun dice game anyone can play.
